As we get older, our metabolism slows down and it takes a significant amount of effort to maintain our desired health. With busy schedules, it is easy to put healthy habits on the back burner. In this post, we will list seven essential habits to promote and maintain good personal health:
1. Exercise Daily
We’ve all had those days where exercising is the last thing we want to do. The best way`to get around this mental block is by setting aside specific times each day to either go for a jog, walk or even dance around a bit. Although the thought of exercising often feels like a drag, has there been many times where you’ve exercised and regretted it afterward or do you normally feel amazing?
2. Eat Healthy
Eating healthy can seem much easier said than done, especially during the busy work week and even more so, with fast food as such a convenient alternative, Meal prepping is a great ally when it comes to eating healthy. Many times, we make poor food choices because we are hungry and unprepared. Preparing a couple of protein, carb and veggie options in bulk really sets the tone for the week and curbs the desire to eat junk food. It also helps to save money, which is never a bad thing.
TIP: Did you know hemp seeds, hemp seed oil, and hemp protein powder have amazing nutritional benefits?
3. Read 20-30 Minutes A Day
Reading can seem like a chore but can also be extremely therapeutic. Whether it be Romance, Fantasy, or Sci-Fi, finding a genre that excites you is key to developing a stronger desire to read. Try reading at your own pace and perhaps committing to a time of a day where you can dedicate 20-30 mins without interruption. If you find a book being snooze worthy, don’t be afraid to sit it aside and crack open another. You could even reread one of your favorites to “keep the fire burning. ”
4. Listen to music
Music can be a great way to relax, especially because there are artists/albums/songs for every mood in our emotional rolodex. You also have the choice to focus on as much, or as little of the song playing as you desire. Some days, you might be more interested in the instrumentation and some days, you might want to dive into some deep lyrics. Music gives you the freedom to make that choice.
5. Get Into A Hobby
Most of what we do on any given day, we do for other people. Take time each week to relax and focus on yourself. Reading, listening to music, cooking, learning a new language, etc. are all examples of hobbies. Hobbies are a great way to pause everything around you and do something for yourself. You deserve it!
